Colson turned 15 months old this past Tuesday and I took him to his well-baby visit today.
My hope was that he weighed in at around 21 pounds this visit...that would be a 1.5 pound weight gain since his 12 month appointment. Sadly, Colson was not even close to that weight.
Here are his 15 month stats:
Weight—20 lbs 1 ounces +9 ounces from his 1 year appointment
3rd percentile
Height—29.25 inches +1.15 inch from his 1 year appointment
6th percentile
Head Circumference—48 cm +2 cm from his 1 year appoinment
48th percentile
When I took him for a weight check at 13.5 months old his weight was 20 pounds 2 ounces...so his weight has stalled.
Because of this, the doctor recommended that we get his blood drawn. As if the 3 shots in his leg weren't traumatic enough for the little guy today...then we go and stick his arm with a giant needle to get blood. The tears rolling down his face were one of the worst things ever. :o( Broke this mama's heart! But I knew it needed to be done.
The doctor said more times than not the blood work comes back normal and there is nothing wrong. Other times it's a thyroid issue. Other times it's something more serious like kidney's or a gastrointestinal issue.
We'll know for sure in a few days when they call with the results. All we can do is hope that its nothing (which is what the doctor thinks). Either way, it will set my mind at ease once we know for sure one way or the other. There will be no more wondering if something is wrong or hoping that everything is ok. We'll have an answer!
Other than his weight, she said Colson looks perfectly normal and healthy!
He is walking all over the place!
He eats EVERYTHING (which is why the no weight gain this past month and a half is somewhat amazing to me!) He loves waffles, pancakes, bagels, milk, bananas, eggs, raisin toast, pizza, nuggets, fish sticks, pb & j's, grilled cheese, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, corn, apples, watermelon... the list goes on...
However, the doctor did say to try to increase his fat intake--adding butter to his veggies, cream cheese to bagels, whole milk, etc. So we'll give that a go and hopefully that helps.
He also talks up a storm! :o) He can say mama, dada, Dodger, this, up, sissy, milk, cookie, ball, tickle. Obviously he has his own variations of those words but we know what he is saying.
He can understand short commands--"Colson can you pick up your toys?", "Colson get your ball.", "Brush your hair.", "Let's go wake up sissy!"-- It's cute because he'll run to her door and knock on it!
He has really started to love sitting on our laps while we read him a book. He'll bring a book over to us and say 'up' because he wants to sit with us. It's pretty cute!
He is still floating in 12 month pants and tops. He wore a 9 month pair of shorts and a 6-12 top today to his appointment. He wears a size 4 diaper and a size 4 shoe.
He also has 8 teeth and the doctor said his top two molars are getting ready to break through any day. Which I figured was the case when he started chewing on his fingers a few days ago!
So now all we can do is wait for a phone call. 'Wait'...I hate that word. *sigh*
