Outside Fun

Hannah absolutely LOVES being outside...especially at grandma and papa's house where they have a swing set and slide. (We only have a swing and sandbox.)

Such a big girl swinging all by herself!
Mommy spent an afternoon doing a photo shoot with Aunt Mandi and Uncle Travis. They needed some photos taken for their save the dates before I could design them, so we went out and took some photos while Hannah played. (They loved how they turned out so maybe after they mail them out to everyone I'll be able to share them with you here on the blog!)

It was a warm one that afternoon (80 degrees) but after we were done shooting I met Hannah over at grandma and papa's. Ah, the joys of living close enough to walk there! It's wonderful! :o)

We did a little swinging together. Grandma took these photos for me. I'm a hot sweaty mess but I love them! :o) They're so Hannah! Plus I'm never in any photos so it's nice to be in some.

It supposed to be beautiful this weekend as well--in the 70's...so that will be nice for our Memorial Day BBQ tomorrow. :o) It was 48 degrees yesterday. Blah!

Ummmm...

Notice the stuffed animals piled up in the corner of the crib???

Yeah, we went in to get Hannah one morning and this is what we found.

Nick and I just looked at each other... ???

There really are no words to explain this!

My Little {Rolling} Batman

How cute is this onesie!? I love it!

He also has a superman one. :oP

Yesterday during tummy time Colson rolled over! It was a real 'rollover' not one of those 'I am pissed and I accidentally flopped myself over' rollovers. He was just laying perfectly content on his tummy, looking at a toy when he just arched his back and rolled over. I think it scared the crap out of him because then he started crying. :oP

I, of course, missed it! I missed Hannah's first rollover so it seems only fitting that I would miss Colson's. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner. I peaked on him and no sooner did I go back to cooking did Nick say that he rolled over.  Figures, right!? I'm home all day with them, why should I get to see it first. Ugh!

So Grown Up

Sometimes I am amazed at just how big Hannah looks sometimes.

Sometimes she looks 2 and a half and other times she looks like she should be going to school.

I took these photos the other day and it was one of those times where I felt like I should be outside waiting with her to get on the school bus. She just looked so grown up.

I know I am biased because I am her mom, but Hannah is pretty damn beautiful!

How did Nick and myself make not just one but two beautiful children? Have you seen us???

Hannah and Colson Update

Hannah turned 2 and a half back on April 25th. I meant to do a post then, but just never got around to it so I will do it now.

Hannah is still wearing 24 month and 2T clothes although some of the pants are getting too short now. I think she'll still be able to wear 2T shorts though this summer. The last time I weighed her she was about 27.5 pounds and that was 2 or so months ago.

Hannah amazes me everyday with just how smart she is. She is constantly learning new things. She talks all the time...sometimes she will say things that we have no idea where they came from. Like the other day she said 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'. I look at Nick and asked him is he had said anything like that to her. He said no so I asked him if maybe his mom had said something to her...since they are in the mist of wedding planning and all. Nick called his mom and she said she never said anything like that to Hannah. Hummm...okay, weird. Then after a few minutes, Nick's mom remembered a Little Bear episode that Hannah watched where they got married and I guess they talked about it. How Hannah can remember that from a few days prior is beyond me. She is also into songs lately so I found the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song on youtube for her. She watched is maybe 5 or 6 times and she could sing the whole song. I swear this kids memory is crazy!

Hannah loves to swing on her swing set. She can pretty much do it all by herself. She loves to fish with papa and play in her sandbox. She is definitely loving being outside! I can't wait to fill up her pool. Last year she never really had interest in it. She only went in grandma and papa's big pool. But I am hoping this year that she will splash around in her little kiddie pool. I am also hoping that we can teach her to swim this year.

Hannah is still not potty trained. Why? Partial laziness on my end and partial stubborn-ness on Hannah's end. I think she knows how to go in the potty...she just always makes excuses as to why she can't actually go sit on the potty. 'No mommy, I have to ____ first!' She will fill in that blank with anything she can think of. When I do plop her butt on the potty she will usually go. But she has yet to tell me that she needs to go sit on the potty. SO its a work in progress. I think once the summer comes and I can get her in shorts and just put panties on her and let her run around outside she will get it a bit faster. I think it will take her a few times of actually wetting herself before she will WANT to on the potty.

The big girl bed transition is coming soon. I wanted to have her in her big girl bed before Colson came but I new that that wasn't really realistic of me to tackle. Hannah's crib converts to a day bed so that is what we are going to do but I want a side railing for it so she doesn't fall off the bed. I bought one about 2 months ago but it ended up being to big for the crib. So a few weeks ago I finally go around to retuning it and I got a smaller one. It was on clearance...I could tell it had been returned but I got it anyways to save some money...BIG mistake! Because when I went to put it together there was a piece missing. So now I have to return that one and get another one. Ugh. I will get a railing that works one of these days and then Hannah will actually get her big girl bed.

Now on to Colson!

He is 3 and a half months old. Crazy! He is in 0-3 months clothes as well as 3 month stuff. He is a great eater and an even better sleeper! He will take about 6 ounces every 4 hours and is still giving me about 8 hours at night. Although last night I fed him at 8:45 and he didn't wake up to eat again until 7:30. He usually naps pretty good during the day but he is definitely awake more than Hannah ever was at this age.

The pacifier is a thing of the past. He hasn't used one in over a month. I went to the store to get more--so the grandmas would have one at their house and I would have a few extras, and ever since then Colson has wanted nothing to do with them. He would not keep them in his mouth. So that is fine by me! I don't like those things anyways! He has been doing well without them. He will occasionally find his hand but he has not become a thumb sucker. If he ever does find his thumb I will try the pacifier again though but we''ll cross that bridge if we ever come to it.

Colson can hold his head up really well now. He can even sit up a bit with the help of mommy. He is not really showing any signs of rolling over yet, mostly because he falls asleep when he's on his tummy. Speaking of tummy time...I have been putting him on his tummy a lot more and he seems to like it a bit more. Before he would just scream and cry but now he will lay there, maybe cry just a bit and then fall asleep. I would say he takes a good 3 hour supervised nap a day while sleeping on his tummy.

At night he is still being semi swaddled. I don't swaddle him nearly as tight so after a few hours he has wiggled his way out. After we buy the mattress for his crib (he is still in the cradle) we will forgo the swaddling all together. We will get the mattress when I return Hannah's bed railing.....so mostly likely sometime this week/weekend.

So there you have it...an update on the kiddos. They are pretty much awesome! I consider myself to be one lucky momma, that's for sure! I love them more than they will ever know! :o)

Still Here!

Sorry for my lack of posting. I promise I am still here. I just haven't had much time to get down to the office to write out posts.

Here is a little update:

Last week we had some unseasonably warm temperatures. We're talking mid 80's. That is just too hot for the beginning/middle of May. Actually, I think that is just too hot, period! I am definitely a Spring and Fall girl. I love to wear jeans and sweaters/sweatshirts. And sadly it seems like those two seasons just keep on getting shorter and shorter. *tear* But I sucked it up for the sake of Hannah and I went outside with her. She just loves her sandbox! So for a couple afternoons last week that's what we did in the afternoon.

We had to time our sandbox playing in between the crazy storms we had. I guess the crazy warm hot weather also brings crazy storms. We decided to go to Target one evening and got caught in one of the storms. It started hailing so we ended up pulling over under an overpass and waited for it to stop. Fun times!

This week though we have been having really chilly weather...like in the 40's. I swear, only in Indiana can you have a 40 degree temperature switch in like 3 days. Blah! Yesterday we actually had a fire going in our fireplace. I thought that we were done with fires so I had cleaned out the fireplace and moved everything downstairs but I was freezing yesterday so I brought it all back up. I now have to clean the fireplace out again but it is worth it. We spent the entire day yesterday in our pjs, in our cozy warm living room. It was pretty perfect! :o)

In other news, my sister-in-law got engaged! I am so excited for her! She found a really great guy and I can't wait for her wedding! November 12th! Hannah is the flower girl and I was asked to be a bridesmaid. I am so honored to be a part off her big day! That just means though, that I have less that 6 months to get my butt in gear and lose some weight! I don't want to be a flabby mess in my bridesmaids dress! :o) I think I will have to do a separate post later on this whole weight loss fun-ness!

So that's about it for updates, I think. At least that is all I can think of right now. I'll do a separate Colson update later. I also have a post about baby food that I want to do so I will have to make sure to find some time to get down in the office.

Mother's Day

I celebrated my first Mother's Day as a mother of two and it was great!

Sometimes it is surreal to me to think that I have two children.

Hannah and Colson are the two greatest gifts I have ever received. They are my absolute everything and I love them with every inch of my being.

Sure, being a mom isn't always easy, but we do what we think is best for our children and that is all we can do.

The smiles, laughs and hugs always outweigh the cries, yelling and tantrums.

They bring joy to my heart and that's all I need because it is the best thing ever! :o)

Sandbox Fun

We finally got some new sand for Hannah's sandbox. And now that we have our backyard fenced in, I feel comfortable letting her play outside. She is able to play in the sandbox or just run around and I know that she cannot get outside of the fence. I am out there with her but it really eases my mind knowing that she can't run off somewhere.

Last night when we tucked Hannah into bed, we told her that tomorrow she would be able to go outside and play in the sandbox. Well this morning, when I went into her room to get her, the first thing that can out of her mouth was: "Mommy, I go play in the sandbox now."

This girl loves to play in her sandbox!

Crafts & Stickers

Hannah loves to do crafts. Sometimes I feel like a bad mom because I don't really have a lot of crafts in the house for her to do. I really need to just go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby one day and grab a whole bunch of fun things.

For Easter, though, Hannah got some stamps. Hannah has never played with stamps so I decided to bring them out for her along with her crayons and stickers.

I will definitely have to get her some more stamps whenever I make that trip out for some 'fun things'.

Hannah's main love, however, is stickers. She has a slight fascination with them.

So much so that sometimes it seems a bit OCD.

Hannah always has to put the stickers down in a straight line--whether it's on paper or in this case, our hands.
Do you notice the stickers on the piece of paper?
Yep, they're in a straight line.

I'm not sure why she does this???

But she loves playing with them so who am I to mess with her creativeness!?

Her art is perfect! :o)

3 Month Comparison

I never did a 2 month comparison between Hannah and Colson, so I wanted to make sure to do a 3 month comparison.

What do you think?

Happy 3 Months, Colson!

Our little man is 3 months old today!

It really is hard for me to remember what it was like without him. I know I said the same thing about Hannah too. But it just feels like he has always been here and has always been a part of our family.

Our life couldn't be more perfect! We love you little man! :o)
