Hannah turned 2 and a half back on April 25th. I meant to do a post then, but just never got around to it so I will do it now.
Hannah is still wearing 24 month and 2T clothes although some of the pants are getting too short now. I think she'll still be able to wear 2T shorts though this summer. The last time I weighed her she was about 27.5 pounds and that was 2 or so months ago.
Hannah amazes me everyday with just how smart she is. She is constantly learning new things. She talks all the time...sometimes she will say things that we have no idea where they came from. Like the other day she said 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'. I look at Nick and asked him is he had said anything like that to her. He said no so I asked him if maybe his mom had said something to her...since they are in the mist of wedding planning and all. Nick called his mom and she said she never said anything like that to Hannah. Hummm...okay, weird. Then after a few minutes, Nick's mom remembered a Little Bear episode that Hannah watched where they got married and I guess they talked about it. How Hannah can remember that from a few days prior is beyond me. She is also into songs lately so I found the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song on youtube for her. She watched is maybe 5 or 6 times and she could sing the whole song. I swear this kids memory is crazy!
Hannah loves to swing on her swing set. She can pretty much do it all by herself. She loves to fish with papa and play in her sandbox. She is definitely loving being outside! I can't wait to fill up her pool. Last year she never really had interest in it. She only went in grandma and papa's big pool. But I am hoping this year that she will splash around in her little kiddie pool. I am also hoping that we can teach her to swim this year.
Hannah is still not potty trained. Why? Partial laziness on my end and partial stubborn-ness on Hannah's end. I think she knows how to go in the potty...she just always makes excuses as to why she can't actually go sit on the potty. 'No mommy, I have to ____ first!' She will fill in that blank with anything she can think of. When I do plop her butt on the potty she will usually go. But she has yet to tell me that she needs to go sit on the potty. SO its a work in progress. I think once the summer comes and I can get her in shorts and just put panties on her and let her run around outside she will get it a bit faster. I think it will take her a few times of actually wetting herself before she will WANT to on the potty.
The big girl bed transition is coming soon. I wanted to have her in her big girl bed before Colson came but I new that that wasn't really realistic of me to tackle. Hannah's crib converts to a day bed so that is what we are going to do but I want a side railing for it so she doesn't fall off the bed. I bought one about 2 months ago but it ended up being to big for the crib. So a few weeks ago I finally go around to retuning it and I got a smaller one. It was on clearance...I could tell it had been returned but I got it anyways to save some money...BIG mistake! Because when I went to put it together there was a piece missing. So now I have to return that one and get another one. Ugh. I will get a railing that works one of these days and then Hannah will actually get her big girl bed.
Now on to Colson!
He is 3 and a half months old. Crazy! He is in 0-3 months clothes as well as 3 month stuff. He is a great eater and an even better sleeper! He will take about 6 ounces every 4 hours and is still giving me about 8 hours at night. Although last night I fed him at 8:45 and he didn't wake up to eat again until 7:30. He usually naps pretty good during the day but he is definitely awake more than Hannah ever was at this age.
The pacifier is a thing of the past. He hasn't used one in over a month. I went to the store to get more--so the grandmas would have one at their house and I would have a few extras, and ever since then Colson has wanted nothing to do with them. He would not keep them in his mouth. So that is fine by me! I don't like those things anyways! He has been doing well without them. He will occasionally find his hand but he has not become a thumb sucker. If he ever does find his thumb I will try the pacifier again though but we''ll cross that bridge if we ever come to it.
Colson can hold his head up really well now. He can even sit up a bit with the help of mommy. He is not really showing any signs of rolling over yet, mostly because he falls asleep when he's on his tummy. Speaking of tummy time...I have been putting him on his tummy a lot more and he seems to like it a bit more. Before he would just scream and cry but now he will lay there, maybe cry just a bit and then fall asleep. I would say he takes a good 3 hour supervised nap a day while sleeping on his tummy.
At night he is still being semi swaddled. I don't swaddle him nearly as tight so after a few hours he has wiggled his way out. After we buy the mattress for his crib (he is still in the cradle) we will forgo the swaddling all together. We will get the mattress when I return Hannah's bed railing.....so mostly likely sometime this week/weekend.
So there you have it...an update on the kiddos. They are pretty much awesome! I consider myself to be one lucky momma, that's for sure! I love them more than they will ever know! :o)
