34 Weeks!

How far along? 34 weeks— I might be starting to freak out a bit...

Due Date: My induction date will be set somewhere between February 2nd and 8th providing all things stay on track. Although deep down I am kind of hoping for a January 29th birthday. (It's a numbers things.) I will talk to my doctor next week about when we will set the actual date. The planner in me is hoping we'll be able to set the date at my appointment next week, so we'll see.

Total weight gain/loss: +32 lbs

Maternity clothes? Yep!

Stretch Marks? Nope!

Sleep: Uncomfortable!

Best moment this week: We are finally moving our office crap into the basement offices. I will be able to paint Colson's room this week!  :o)

Movement: Yep!

Food cravings: Darn candy and sweets.

Food aversions: None.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: None that I know of...

Belly Button in or out? Still in.

What I miss: Being myself. I was fine with Hannah up until the end. I enjoyed being pregnant. This go around, I am sad to say that I am ready to be done...I'm ready to Hold Colson in my arms instead of having him kick me in the ribs.

What I am looking forward to: Finally painting Colson's room. :o)

Milestones: I'm 34 weeks today which means I have about 4 weeks to go. 4 WEEKS!

Baby is clocking in at five pounds and could be as tall as 20 inches by now. This week, a boy's testicles start making their way down from his abdomen to their final destination: his scrotum and those tiny fingernails have probably reached the tips of his fingers by now.

  1. Why do you have to be induced at all, if your blood presure and everything else stays ok? Is it not an option to see if he's born "on his own" right before due date or on due date? So that an induction could also be made after your due date?
As I was induced due to high blood presure as well, in the hospital the doctors told me they wanted to wait until one week after due date but my doctor told them to induce earlier in order to avoid a c-section.
So, I'm just wondering what is the reason behind the "early" induction as you are already on blood presure "drugs" which work...

  2. I have Chronic hypertension. The meds are lowering it to a normal level but I still technically have hypertension regardless of what the actual number reads at each doctors appointment. If I was to go off the meds I would still have high blood pressure. It is common practice to induce at least one week early because high blood pressure tends to restrict fetal growth, limits oxygen to the placenta and it increases the chance of still birth. They want to induce before any of those things actually become a serious problem. So if I don't have him on my own, I will be induced early.
Does that make sense??? I hope so. I actually kind of hard to explain.
I guess the ultimate reasoning is to just make sure that baby is okay and they don't wait to long to where it's not ok.

  3. Yeah, that makes sense. He will be full term anyways, so I guess there's no reason not to do it.
Wish you all the best for the next few weeks!
