Pinning!

I fell in love with these crocheted leg warmers from Knotty Tots. They were just too cute to pass up so I purchased the listing for the crochet pattern.

I have already made Hannah a cream pair and a purple pair. They were super easy to make and it only took me a total of three hours to make one pair.  Plus, it is such a great way to use up yarn because two leg warmers didn't even take a whole thing of yarn.

I'll try to get a photo of Hannah wearing them because not only are they super cute, but she loves to wear them. :o)

I found this recipe for Bourbon Chicken and I am making it sometime this week. It seems pretty easy to make!

The countdown is on for our vacation and I am pretty super excited about doing this:

It's already booked! :o) I have always ALWAYS wanted to go horseback riding on the beach and now I get too!

I'm not sure why I love this idea so much, I just do.

I had found the perfect frame while doing my Christmas shopping but, of course, I didn't buy it for myself. I might have to go back and see if the frame is still there because I think I need to do this. :o)

And, because this is how I feel about my blog these days:

Who's Who?

These photos were taken at the same age.

Hello.

It's been a while. :o/

I have really been struggling when it comes to blog posts lately. As much as I'm sure you love seeing photos of my kiddos, I'm also sure you would love to read something of substance. Maybe some favorite recipes, DIY's, recent decorating adventures, my remaining pesky 9 pounds that I want to lose...

I have tons of great ideas in mind but I lack motivation when it comes time to actually writing the posts.

So, today I will just leave you with a bit of an update and hopefully soon I can get write posts on some of my ideas listed above.

1.  Last week we had a beautiful day. It was 50+ degrees and the kiddos played outside for a bit and got some fresh air. A 50 degree day, in January, for Indiana is pretty crazy and tomorrow and Wednesday of this week are supposed to be in the 50's as well. This time of year we're used to having lake effect snow every other day so the warmer weather is a nice change of pace.

2.  Hannah has become quite the diva lately and she is really trying my patience. She is testing her boundaries, that's for sure, and has come to love the word 'no'. If anyone wants a three year old and the price is right, I might consider giving her to you. :o) Okay, it's really not that bad. Every kid goes through this...I just have to remember that this is how they learn what they can and cannot do and we have to set the ground rules early or we will all go crazy!

3.   Colson is all over the place but cannot seem to get up the courage to let go of the furniture and walk on his own. He won't even walk if we are holding one of his hands...it has to be both hands or he will just plop down on his butt. :oP We'll see if he is walking by his birthday--which is 23 days away. *tear*

4.  I'll do a longer post about this eventually, but I wanted to let you all know where I stand on my weight loss journey. I pretty much gave up calorie counting through the holidays. My goal was to just maintain my weight without gaining anything. I am proud to say that I managed to do just that! But now that the holidays are over (and our beach vacation is inching ever closer) I am back on the calorie counting train. I am finding it a bit harder this time to get into the swing of things...maybe it's because we still have Christmas candy and cookies in the house, but I am logging what I eat again and we're going to the grocery store tonight so I will pick up some healthier food options.

5. We are starting the process of finishing the rest of our basement. This time last year we were finishing up our office spaces...but now we have to finish the bathroom, game room and living room spaces. I was pretty bad when it came to taking photos of the office building process--mostly because I was 8 and 9 months pregnant--but I promise to do a better job of tracking the remaining progress. :o)

Okay, I know this post was pretty lame. Sorry. Better posts are to come. I promise!

Hannah's First Haircut

Yesterday was a big day for Hannah—and for mommy. As much as I didn't want to, I gave Hannah her first haircut. And yes, you read that right...her FIRST haircut...at 3 years old.
When I was growing up, me and my sister always had long hair so I knew that I would let Hannah's hair grow out as well. And I love it long. It's got a slight curl to it and it is just beautiful. But there comes a time where it just gets too long, and I decided that that time was yesterday. It needed a little trim.

So, I got out my scissors and a towel and chair, and went to work after I got her out of the bath. I had never cut hair before so I was a little nervous, but I dove right in.

Deep Breath. Ready. Set. Go.

Hannah really had no idea what I was doing since this was her first haircut. She sat pretty still for me... although there were times when she flipped her head around to try to see what I was doing.

Almost done!

Colson, however, was clearly being tortured because we put him in the pack n play for a whopping 10 minutes. Geesh!
Poor kid!
And here is the before and after. I think I did a pretty good job, if I do say so myself! :o)

In the end, I would say a good 4 inches was cut from her hair.

As soon as I was done cutting, I made sure to put the first little lock of hair into her baby book.

Happy 11 Months, Colson!

Colson is 11 months old! Pure craziness!
How is it already time to be planning our little man's birthday?
The countdown is definitely on and the planning for the big 1st birthday bash has begun! :o)

In stat news:

I took Colson in for a weight check last week because of his low percentiles last month. It wasn't great news. Our little guy only gained 3 ounces in one month and grew nothing in length. :o/

I was told to not be concerned and that he looks completely healthy so I am trying to tell myself that everything is okay. He looks healthy and is by no means a skinny child--he eats EVERYTHING...which is why it's weird that he is so low on the percentile for weight. The height thing is a bit more concerning though. When I look at Hannah's 9 month stats; Colson at 11 months is still a half a pound shy and a full inch away from her numbers. It's just weird!

The pediatrician said that some kids just stall; but that if for some reason he still isn't gaining weight at his one year appointment they would run labs to make sure nothings actually wrong.

So yes, never a dull moment. :oP
