Hannah's Big Girl Bed

Last weekend we said goodbye to Hannah's crib which had been acting as her toddler bed for almost 2 years.

I was a little sad to take apart her crib. It had been in her room since we moved into our house over 3 years ago. It was just a part of her room.

But it was way past time to move her into a twin size bed. She's growing up and deserves a big girl room! The bed was step one towards that room!
The kiddos were excited to help daddy but together the bed!

Hannah was pretty excited when it was all put together!

I was afraid that maybe Hannah would have a hard time adjusting to the idea of a new bed. She is a creature of habit and routine so the fact that she wasn't going to be sleeping in her bed of the past 3 years had me a bit worried. But she was excited to sleep in it! And she went to bed that night without any problems.

That is, until about an hour later when all of a sudden she burst into tears. We went into her room and the first thing out of her mouth was that she wanted her small bed back. It broke my heart. But we told her that big girls need new big girl beds and that soon she will love this bed just as much as she loved her old bed.

After a little soothing and mommy sleeping next to her for 15 minutes, she was ready to love her new big girl bed. She went to sleep and has been fine with it ever since. The 10 million stuffed animals that sleep with her help a bit, I'm sure!

It is still weird to tuck her into this new bed. In her toddler bed she looked so big and now in this bed she looks tiny. She is just growing up so fast and it makes me want to cry. But it is what it is. We can't freeze time.

So we move on with the big girl bedroom transformation. It will be a slow going but I have projects in the works. Her ruffle curtains will hopefully be finished by the end of this week and I have 1 of her giant wall dahlias completed already.
