30 Week Baby Update

Due Date? October 2nd

How far along? 30 weeks today

How big is baby? about 3 pounds and the size of an eggplant

Weight gain? +23

Maternity clothes? Yep

Stretchmarks? not yet

Sleep? I am currently using 3 pillows--a body pillow, an L-shaped pillow and a regular pillow and that seems to be helping me get comfortable.

Best moment this week? Swimming and relaxing in the pool.

Movement? All the time.

Food cravings? Nothing specific. Not able to eat much at a time because then I can't breathe.

Gender? Team Green

Labor signs? Not yet.

Belly button in or out? in

What I miss? Laying and sleeping on my stomach, being able to breath, and not waddling.

What I am looking forward to? The end! I know I have quite a few weeks to go but I have reached the stage of wanting it to be over. I am hot all the time, uncomfortable and I just want to feel like 'me' again. I am already longing to workout and get my body back! We know this is our last baby so operation 'hot mama' will begin once I have the okay to workout and I am so looking forward to that day! :o)

Milestones? 30 weeks! Woohoo! In two months we will meet this little peanut!

Next doctor's appointment? August 5th (holy crap--August???)--which will put me just shy of 32 weeks. First BP was 144/86. The second one was better at 138/76. NSTs are going well and baby looks good so right now things are pretty uneventful, which is good!

Here is my bump pic!!

DIY Burp Clothes

If you have been following my blog, you know that I love a good DIY craft project.

When I got pregnant, I knew I wanted to try my hands at making some burp clothes because honestly, those things are not cheap to buy.

Well, I finally got around to sewing some the other day and I thought I would put up a very tiny tutorial. :o)

I had 10 Ikea kitchen towels sitting in my office that I bought for another project that were the perfect size--so that is what I used for the absorbent part of the burp cloth. You could also just buy terry cloth or chenille fabric. For the decorative part, I bought some cotton fabric and some flannel fabric.

Then, I made a template for cutting the towels and fabric. After some research, I decided on a 17x9 inch peanut shaped burp cloth. I used a plastic bowl to trace around to get my nice curved edges.

Then, I cut out my pieces, leaving a good 1/2 inch to an inch of extra fabric for my inseam--which resulted in my fabric pieces measuring about 18x10 inches.

I pinned the two pieces together--right sides together, and sewed around the edge remembering to leave a good 2 inch opening to be able to turn my burp cloth right side out.

After turning my burp cloth right side out, I pinned the opening closed and sewed around the edge.

That's it! Pretty darn easy! I love how they turned out!

Wordless Wednesday

So this happened over the weekend!

We decided to forgo settings up the cradle and just set up the crib instead....mostly because we have no idea how long this baby will be staying in our room. Plus, we had the room in our master to set it up and we figured this just saves us a step in the future.

So that's one thing I can cross off the to-do list. :o)

The Carnival

Last Thursday we took the kiddos to a local carnival.

They had a blast riding the rides! Colson was actually able to ride a few this time.

I love that they are holding hands in the bottom picture. We told Hannah she had to watch out for her brother and she told us "she has everything under control"! :oP

Next up is the county fair at the end of the month! This pregnant girl is looking forward to some fried pickles! :o)

Appointments

Yesterday was my first round if 'high risk' testing.

I don't like to use the term high risk though. My doctor has never actually said these words to me and I feel like they are a bit extreme for my circumstances. While I do have pre hypertension, things could definitely be worse!

I prefer to think that my OB is just being overly cautious just incase my pregnancy does reach the scary stage! And that is fine by me! Better to be proactive than to sit there and have something be wrong with the baby!

Regardless though, because of this testing, I guess I am technically high risk.

Everything went well yesterday.

I had my ultrasound at 9:30 and the tech got all the measurements she needed. The baby wasn't in the best position, plus the cord and a hand were in front of its face so we didn't get a great shot.

She then switched it to the 3d and I got to see a little bit of the babies face--chubby cheeks and precious lips! :o)

And...I did not peak at the sex! Go me! :oP

After my ultrasound, I headed up to labor and delivery for my NST.

I got all hooked up to the contraction and heartbeat monitor and got to listen to the beautiful heartbeat for about 45 minutes.

Baby was moving like crazy and everything looked good!

So, one round down. 9ish more NSTs to go and 3ish ultrasounds. Hopefully my blood pressure doesn't decide to spike and everything continues to look good!

28 Week Baby Update

Due Date? October 2nd

How far along? 28 weeks today

How big is baby? 16 inches and about 2.5 pounds

Weight gain? +21-22...

Maternity clothes? Yep

Stretchmarks? nope

Sleep? Still fighting restless legs. I have a hard time falling asleep. I also toss and turn a lot. Getting comfortable is starting to get a bit difficult. My hips are starting to hurt when I lay on my side.

Best moment this week? Taking the kiddos to see the fireworks at the beach.

Movement? All the time. I can tell his/her feet are moving up towards my rib cage.

Food cravings? Nothing specific. Not able to eat much at a time because then I can't breathe.

Gender? Team Green

Labor signs? Not yet.

Belly button in or out? in

What I miss? Laying and sleeping on my stomach.

What I am looking forward to? Seeing the peanut on ultrasound again tomorrow! (I will not peak at the sex, I will not peak at the sex, I will not peak at the sex!)

Milestones? Made it to my third trimester!

Next doctor's appointment? July 22th--which will put me just shy of 30 weeks. BP was 134/86. Also, tomorrow I start my weekly non-stress tests. Plus, I have an ultrasound tomorrow and will have one every three weeks from now until baby is born. I asked about induction and my doc said, yes, probably...it will all just be determined by my BP as to when it happens. These next 10 weeks will fly by and I feel like I am so not ready yet! I have so much to do! :o/

Here is my bump pic!!

4th of July

We had a nice 4th of July! The weather was very nice...not too hot, so it made the cookouts very enjoyable!

We went to Nick's parents for a cookout on the 4th.

We got a super cute pic of all of the cousins together!

We went to the beach on the 5th to watch the fireworks.

And then on the 6th we went to my parent's house for a cookout.

I think my skewers turned out pretty well! :o)

I still can't believe it's July. The summer is flying by and sadly we haven't been able to get in the pool all that much because it hasn't been warm enough. And when it is warm enough, it decides to rain. :o/ but at the same time, this pregnant girl is not complaining about the cooler weather. :o)

4th of July Desserts

Since we have two 4th of July cookouts to go to, I have been trying to find some fun, festive, kid-friendly and most importantly---easy desserts to make to take to them.

I thought I would post some of my Pinterest finds here in case you need some ideas! :o)

I am loving the skewer idea so I think I am going to go with those. How easy, right!?
