Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a busy one and I need to catch-up! I will do a little recap of my weekend and then I am off to get things done.

My bestie came to stay for a couple days (Thursday-Saturday), which was super nice. I'm so glad that I will be able to see her more, now that she lives only 2.5 hours away instead of 6. Colson and Mackenzie enjoyed 'playing' together. And we were even able to get out of the house without the kids, thanks to my mom! She watched all three of them while we went out to the outlet mall.

Saturday was the bachelorette party for my two SILs. We headed up to Chicago and partied at LuxBar. I had a blast and so did the brides-to-be! I didn't take my camera so no pictures--unless I get tagged in some funny ones on Facebook. Man, do I have some funny stories that I could share though! :oP  Then the following day we got breakfast and hit up H & M. I so wish we had one of those closer to home! But we were home by 3 on Sunday and the remainder of the day was spent relaxing. 4 hours of sleep just does not cut it!

So, it was a busy weekend but it was a pretty darn awesome weekend!

And every weekend, from now until the end of the year, we have something planned so the remainder of this year is going to fly by! I'll have to do a separate blog post about our upcoming weekends. I'm tired just thinking about it all!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I'm off to tackle my to-do list! The house is a mess. I have to finish my SIL's wedding place cards. I have to hem Colson's tux. I have to get fitted (again) for my dress--losing weight is good until you have to fit into a dress that you were fitted for almost 2 months ago. And I have to play major catch-up with the laundry--we're having a love/hate relationship right now.

Answers

Well, I only got three questions. I'm a little sad, but I want to say thank you to those few that did ask me something. :o)

Here we go:

I remember when you were pregnant with Colson, the name you originally picked was Greyson/Grayson. Then you changed it to Colson. I had never heard that name before you used it and I was wondering where you got it from. Since you had him Im seeing it more online and I kinda think to myself "gah everybody is stealing her name!" LOL!! So anyway...whered you get the name Colson?

It was a name that I saw when browsing through some blogs. It caught my eye and I kept it in the back of my head because I had never heard that name before either. I mentioned the name to my husband before we knew we were having a boy and he immediately said no to the name. After stressing out about our first name choice of Grayson, we decided that we needed to change our name choice and I once again mentioned Colson to my husband. I had looked up the meaning and it meant "son of Nicholas". After a few days he finally agreed that Colson was to be the name of our son. :o)

Do you sometimes miss going to work?

No, I do not miss going to work. I do not miss leaving my babies (and my home) to go into an office to work. I do sometimes miss being able to create and work on all of the cool things that I used to  (brochures, websites, posters, billboards, menus, postcards, etc.) but I still do stationary design work (invitations, programs, guestbooks, etc.) from my home through my own company. When I have that to work on, it gives me my fix! It is great to have the flexibility to work and design when I need/want to and not have to go somewhere everyday. :o) I consider myself to be super lucky to be able to stay at home with my kids and I know I don't thank my husband enough for such a great gift!

How do you come up with your birthday party ideas?

For Hannah's most recent birthday party, Pinterest was where I got most of my ideas. I joke about wanting to re-do my wedding now that there is Pinterest because I have found so many great ideas that I would have incorporated.
Before Pinterest I had a couple go-to blogs for ideas.
Hostess with the Mostess
Celebrations at Home
After Pinterest, the list is crazy long of great blogs and I really need to update my blogroll with some of the ones I have come across. But seriously, Pinterest is the greatest thing ever! I am already pinning things for Colson's first birthday party. :o)

Q & A

I will be missing in action until next week (my bestie will be here for a few days and then it's bachelorette party fun with the SIL) so I thought it might be fun to start a Q & A session.

I have never done one of these before so I'm really hoping my loyal readers participate. It will make for a very boring 'answer' post if only one person asks me a question! Plus, I'll feel pretty lame if no one asks me anything. :o(

But over the next few days, feel free to leave me a comment on this post asking me whatever you wish! Then, when I return on Monday, I will post an entry answering all of your questions.

I hope this brings some of my lurkers out of the woodworks, and i hope it gives you answers to some things what you have been wondering about. :o)

So...please, ask away!

Happy 9 Months, Colson!

*sigh*
My not-so-much-of-a-baby boy is 9 months old today.
How in the world is he 9 months old already!? Didn't I just give birth to him???

With the holidays quickly approaching, we will be celebrating his 1st birthday in no time. I just hope that it's not the last 1st birthday we ever celebrate in this house. Baby fever, anyone? Yeah, me!
*big cheesy grin*
Love you, Nick!
Anyways, what is Mr. Man up to these days???

—in 6-9 month and 9 month clothes
—wears size 3 diapers
—has 4 teeth and I'm pretty sure I can see #5 and #6 making their way down. Yikes!
—has started army crawling. Save me!
—loves every kind of food. We started the stage 3 foods a few days ago ( mommy refuses to puree chicken, etc. Gross) and he love his spaghetti and chicken and veggies!
—is doing really well with chewing.
—still only says dada. Whenever I try to get him to say mama he just looks at me very seriously and blurts out DADA! Urgh!
—is really loving toys right now. The colors, the sounds. He inspects everything--a lot of times with his mouth. :oP

Colson's 9 month appointment isn't until November 29th so we have a ways to go before we get his stats. He's pretty true to the clothing sizes though so I'm sure he is on track with the norm, weight and length-wise. :o)
