Updating Baby Items

My baby shower was almost 5 years ago. 5 years!

A lot has changed in the world of baby items since my shower. They have come out with cooler things. Better things. Things I would like to have! :oP

Now that we're having our third child, we are still using the same baby items I received at my shower. We haven't 'updated' anything.

It sure would be nice to 'upgrade' some things and buy some new items for this baby.

First up would be a new baby swing. The swing we have is one of those huge swings. But since my shower, they have come out with smaller 'portable' swings. Since we will have three kiddos occupying the living room, I think we need to get rid of the big bulky swing we currently have and get one of these smaller swings! We will need all the space we can get in the living room and this will help!

And how cool are these video monitors they have come out with. They even have ones that work with your iPhone. This would be super cool to have and a part of me wants one, but that is a definite splurge that I don't think is necessary...especially since we have run out of rooms in our house and this baby will be staying in our room for, well, who knows how long.

Then there are swaddling blankets. With Hannah we just got some stretchy blankets. And they totally worked fine! It wasn't until I was pregnant with Colson that I heard of the Aden and Anais swaddling blankets. But these blankets came with a hefty price tag so we decided against getting them for Colson. But since we are not finding out the sex of this baby, I want to get a few. Some gender neutral swaddling blankets are a must buy! :o)

Speaking of Aden and Anais....they have these super cool burp cloth/bibs. My sister-in-law had one and I thought it was the coolest thing! I definitely want to get a couple of these for the new baby!

Lastly, we come to the stroller. I am still rocking the travel system stroller I got at my shower. Honestly, it works perfectly well most of the time. But since Hannah will be walking most of the time and Colson will still be riding in a stroller, I really wand to get a nice side-by-side double stroller that we can also attach the carseat to. We have a double stroller that has the seats in front of one another and that works fine, but I avoid talking it in stores because it is just too hard to maneuver. We only used it for walks. I think a new double will not only be better for walks but I will also be able to take it in stores. I am thinking the Baby Jogger City Mini is the one we are going with.

16 Week Baby Update

Due Date? October 2nd

How far along? 16 weeks today

How big is baby? the size of an Avocado--4.6 inches long

Weight gain? +6

Maternity clothes? Pretty much all the time unless I'm in pjs or yoga pants.

Stretchmarks? nope

Sleep? Eh, it's okay.

Best moment this week? We bought a baby name book. We are set on a boys name but a girls name is giving us some problems.

Movement? I might feel a thump here and there...or it might just be gas. I can't tell yet. :oP

Food cravings? I'm just hungry all the time!

Gender? Team Green! My hunch is girl though.

Labor signs? no!

Belly button in or out? in

What I miss? My not so large boobs.

What I am looking forward to? Feeling the baby move.

Milestones? Finally getting a real baby bump

Next doctor's appointment? April 29th--my doctor wants to see me in two weeks rather than the standard four weeks because of my high blood pressure. It was 156/80 at my appointment on Monday. :o/

Here is my 16 week 'bump'.

Friday Randoms

1. It's never going to get nice outside. 45 degrees today and rainy...in the middle of April. Come on Spring, stop teasing us!

2. I would really love to get a new double side-by-side stroller.

Here are my requirements:

It needs to have an infant seat adapter.
It needs to fit through a standard door.
It needs to not cost a fortune.

I've been looking at the Baby Jogger City Mini but honestly I am clueless when it comes to double strollers.

Suggestions? Recommendations? Any help is greatly appreciated!

3. I'm in that stage of pregnancy where I feel like I don't quite look pregnant to other people and I just look extra fat. With this crappy weather, I am also having a hard time dressing in clothes that make me feel comfortable. I've got the semi-belly, boobs that are driving me nuts, and a very limited wardrobe. More times that not, if I have to get dressed in 'real' clothes (aka. Not yoga pants) than I am uncomfortable to the point where it puts me in a grumpy mood. And that just sucks! Because I want to love my belly because this is the last one I will have.

4. This is the first weekend in quite some time that we don't have anything planned. No family functions to go to. But with the crappy weather, I have no idea if we'll be able to get anything done around the house. We really need to move/remove two evergreen bushes from our front flower beds but I don't particularly want to do that when it 40 degrees outside. We also need to buy stain to stain our fence and deck. Fun times. And let's not even talk about cleaning out the garage! :o/

Brookfield Zoo

Last Friday, Nick had the day off and the weather was beautiful, so we decided to load the kids up in the car and drive an hour to go to Brookfield Zoo.

They were troopers and we spent a solid 4 hours walking around the zoo, soaking up the sun and enjoying the animals. The day was pretty much perfect! :o)
